Nyinahin was the scene of violent clashes between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following a *District* event to unveil newly acquired construction equipment. The tension escalated after the NDC regional secretary, Dr Frank Amoakohene urged the government officials not to misuse the equipment for illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey.”

The event, organized by the municipal authorities, invited the NDC to participate. However, in a controversial move, the organizers allowed the NPP to campaign at the event while attempting to deny the NDC an opportunity to address the gathering. Matters worsened when the public address system mysteriously malfunctioned just as the NDC was scheduled to speak.

Undeterred, the NDC came prepared with their own public address system and courageously delivered their message, focusing on change and good governance. As the NDC addressed the crowd, tensions boiled over, with NPP supporters reportedly launching an attack. The NDC side resisted the assault, and the situation quickly spiraled out of control, leading to chaos and an abrupt end to the program.
