*Campaign Against “Red” And Other Harmful Drugs Launched.*

I have officially launched a campaign against “Wonim Red” and other destructive drugs that threaten the future of Ghana’s youth.

Given the widespread concern about these substances, particularly in the country, I’m emphasizing the need for collective action against abuse of an Opiod known as Red.

While I seek to bring awareness on the devastating effects of the substances, I call upon key stakeholders, including the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ghana Police Service, media, National Security, and others, to join forces in combating this situation which is becoming alarming in our society.

The unredemable impact of these hard drugs on the youth follows my questions about the role of security agencies in curbing, importation, and distribution of these substances.

I’m using this press release to call on Amenfi East MCE, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, MP, Hon. Nicolas Amankwah, technocrats, security agencies, and the media to collaborate in addressing this critical issue.

Opioids (Red) can have significant effects on individuals and society. Some of the key effects include:

1. Addiction: Opioids can be highly addictive, leading to dependence and substance use disorder.
2. Physical Health Issues: Opioid use can cause respiratory depression, constipation, nausea, and increased risk of overdose.
3. Mental Health Impacts: Opioids can contribute to depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
4. Social Consequences: Opioid addiction can strain relationships, impact employment, and lead to social isolation.

As the nation demands your devotion towards achieving our goals, I called on Ghanaians and the youth who are in the epic of the abuse to arise against Red.

HON Emmanuel Akwasi Oduro
