Asante Kotoko beat Hearts of Oak to clinch inaugural Democracy Cup

Asante Kotoko emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday night, securing a 2-1 win to claim the inaugural Democracy Cup trophy.

The Porcupine Warriors traveled to the capital with a mission to bring the trophy back to Kumasi, and they did just that in a hard-fought match at Accra Sports Stadium.

Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum fielded an exciting starting eleven, including some newly signed players, who put up a strong performance throughout the game.

After a promising start, Asante Kotoko took the lead in the 30th minute when Justice Blay successfully converted a penalty kick, giving his team the advantage going into halftime.

In a tense battle for supremacy, Asante Kotoko ultimately emerged victorious with Peter Amidu scoring a fantastic goal to secure the win and lift the trophy as champions of the Democracy Cup.
