A custom has been performed at Ankobea Palace for the desolation of Nana Ansu Agyei, Ankobea Apagyahene and Mmrengyaahene, the traditional leader of the Dormaa Mmrengyaa, has been removed from office for collecting bribes from illegal miners, popularly known as galamsey operators.
According to sources, Nana Ansu Agyei had been receiving payments from the illegal miners in exchange for protection and permission to operate in the area.
The removal of the chief was announced by Barima Dei Kusi Gyabaah ll (Dormaa Ankobeahene and Amasuhene, the president of Ankobea Divisional Council ) after a thorough investigation into the allegations.

The move has been welcomed by the community, who had grown tired of the chief’s alleged corrupt practices.
