The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahafo Region has expressed concerns regarding police impartiality following an altercation that took place after a party float on September 7, 2024, at Kwapong.
During a press conference in Mim on September 10, 2024, Ahafo Regional NDC Communication Director, Apraku Lartey outlined the NDC’s grievances.
According to him, NDC members were attacked by New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth after a float. The conflict allegedly started when NPP supporters, led by a man known as Anointing, confronted NDC members, demanding they remove their party paraphernalia. When the NDC supporters questioned the reason for this, they were physically assaulted.
The violence escalated, with NPP members reportedly pursuing NDC supporters to Mr. Gyau’s residence, where they attacked his family and vandalized property, including a vehicle belonging to the youth organizer.

The NDC is questioning why Anointing, who is wanted for a previous incident at Kukuom, has not been arrested by the police.
The NDC also warned that if the police do not apprehend Anointing and his accomplices, they will resist any police attempts to arrest their own members.
Additionally, the Regional Chairman,Mr Yaw Okyere issued a caution to the Regional Police Commander, referencing past incidents like the Techiman South clash, and urged the police to act professionally, stating that while they respect the police, they are not afraid to stand up for their rights.
