Hasaacas Ladies fell short of qualifying for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League despite a commanding 6-1 win in their final group stage match.

On Saturday afternoon, the Ghana Women’s Premier League champions defeated Niger’s AS Garde National.

However, the victory wasn’t enough to advance to the semifinals.

Both Hasaacas and second-placed Omnisports Etincelle finished the group stage with four points each, but Omnisports advanced due to a better goal difference.

Hasaacas’ Fatoumata Tamboura opened the scoring after 20 minutes, followed by goals from Grace Animah and Comfort Owusu, giving the team a 3-0 lead. Although AS Garde managed to score before halftime, Comfort Owusu extended Hasaacas’ lead after the break.

Despite several missed chances to add to their tally, Hasaacas scored two more goals in stoppage time through Animah and Abigail Sakyiwaa, ending the match at 6-1.

Hasaacas needed a victory by at least six goals to surpass Omnisports, who had lost 1-0 to Nigeria’s Edo Queens.

With their Champions League aspirations now over, Hasaacas Ladies will turn their focus back to domestic competitions
