The Seventh Day Adventist Church has insisted that voting on Saturday is not aligned with their religious beliefs therefore the Church wants the EC and other stakeholders to consider changing the election date.
In reaction to this, Dr. Nana Takyi Asiedu, a political Analyst has outrightly condemned the call for a change of date and a request for special voting explaining that Ghana is not governed by the Holy Bible but by a constitution and the constitution mandates the country to organize elections on December 7th in every four years hence the need for EC to adhere to the provisions in the constitution for transparency in the forthcoming elections.
He indicated that any attempt for the EC to grant the audience to SDA church and other Saturday worshipers will call for Muslims and Sunday worshipers to push for the same, a situation he said will subsequently affect the beauty of our democracy and other election processes.
He noted that Ghana has had peaceful elections since 1992 elections except for some casualties we recorded in the 2020 general elections hence the EC must work assiduously to maintain the peace we shared stressing that issues of special voting for a section of Christians may affect the transparency of the elections.
