Hon Akwasi Opong-Fosu who was the Special Guest of Honour during the TEIN General Meeting at the University of Ghana,noted that whereas digital transformation catalyses production and business processes, and can bring about transparency, efficiency and innovation, it cannot address the root causes of failed leadership, governance dysfunction and economic mismanagement which has brought us to where we are as a country.
Hon. AkwasiOpong-Fosu, who is former Minister of Local Government and a former Member of Parliament of the good people of Amenfi East in the Western, was speaking on theme,
“Tha Role of the Youth in Building the Ghana We Want ”
He emphasized that Digital transformation is not a panacea to a broken economy.
Whereas digital transformation catalyses production and business processes, and can bring about transparency, efficiency and innovation, it cannot address the root causes of failed leadership, governance dysfunction and economic mismanagement which has brought us where we are as a country.
“When your car has broken down as a result of a mechanical or electrical fault, the remedy is to fix it and not to change the fuel from standard petrol to V-Power.
The calls for a debate between the NPPs flagbearer, Vice President Bawumiah, and former President Mahama flagbearer of the NDC are merely a distraction, amounting to ‘sound and fury signifying nothing and urging the youth not to be swayed by political gimmicks.
The youth of this nation, being the majority, have more at stake as their future is imperilled under this government and a future NPP government. The latest report by Global Analytics revealed that nine out of ten Ghanaians believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.
In this regard, members of TEIN must join forces with the youth of Ghana and actively work for a turnaround in the direction that the country has been heading under the NPP administration.
The first step is to mount a vigorous VOTE THEM OUT campaign that will resonate with the majority of Ghanaians who are distressed and believe that the country is heading in the wrong direction.
He urged students to embrace the voice of the ordinary Ghanaian in the agenda for change.
