The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has commended the Ghanaian media for their vital contributions to national development and his political campaigns.

He assured that an NPP-led government would continue to collaborate closely with the media, emphasizing a commitment to upholding media freedom if elected in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking during an interaction with journalists on Sunday, August 25, in Accra, Dr. Bawumia stated, “The NPP views the media as a crucial partner in national development.”

“In our quest to expand the frontiers of democratic governance in Ghana, it was thus the NPP under former President J. A Kufuor that repealed the criminal libel law for the media to function fully. The NPP will continue to partner with the media and ensure media freedom.

“We’re partners with you and the partnership I will continue to keep, as the new leader of the NPP. We’re committed to deepening media freedom.
