The National Democratic Congress in Offinso South constituency of the Ashanti Region is demanding accountability from the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Isaac Yaw Opoku.
The party is questioning how the MP, who is now the NPP parliamentary candidate for Offinso South Constituency, has utilized his common funds for the benefit of constituents during his nearly four years.
This call follows Hon. Isaac Yaw Opoku’s failure to attend a parliamentary debate organized by the Offinso South branch of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The debate aimed to deepen resident participation in democracy by voting on issues to elect competent leaders.
The NDC party expressed disappointment, stating that the incumbent MP, Isaac Yaw Opoku, is avoiding debate with NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Mr. Asare Bediako Vincent stems from his inability to account for his actions as MP.
Addressing the media in Offinso South, the NDC emphasized dissatisfaction with the pace of development under the current MP during his nearly four years.
Mr. Abass Amogobo, the Offinso South NDC Constituency Secretary, noted that the incumbent NPP MP has failed to initiate or complete any tangible projects in the constituency during his nearly four-year tenure.
Specifically, Abass Amogobo highlighted that some road projects initiated by former MP Hon. Ben Abdullah Banda has remained uncompleted since Isaac Yaw Opoku’s election.
He accused hon. Isaac Yaw Opoku of securing his MP position through deceitful promises, resulting in significant developmental stagnation.
Hence, Mr. Abass Amogobo urges constituents to opt for change in the upcoming December elections by voting for John Dramani Mahama as president and elect Asare Bediako Vincent as their member of Parliament to develop Offinso South Constituency.
