Pounding fufu for votes is better than lying for votes” – Amenfi East NPP Deputy Youth Organizer Admits

The 2024 general election campaigns are intensifying, with various approaches being employed. While some parties seem complacent, others are vigorously canvassing votes for their candidates.

A new twist in Ghana’s election campaign is aspirants, mostly parliamentary candidates, engaging in house chores to showcase their down-to-earth personality. Some even pound fufu, knead corn dough, and wash constituents’ clothes as part of their house-to-house campaigns.

The question remains whether these house chores will continue post-election and if this approach is effective. However, political actors don’t seem wrong for doing house chores for votes. For instance, Amenfi East Constituency Deputy Youth Organizer, Mr. Foster Forson (Ice Man), believes pounding fufu for votes is better than making false promises. He highlighted Ghana’s dynamic politics and the need for legitimate strategies, including house chores, to secure votes.

Mr. Forson emphasized the challenges in garnering votes due to the current political landscape, stressing the need to re-strategize campaign approaches. Despite aspirants’ performance or track records, some voters prioritize house chores in rating candidates. He urged party supporters to adopt these strategies to win more votes for the NPP party in the upcoming elections.
