Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading waste management company in Ghana, has partnered with the Sunyani East Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East to organize a massive clean-up exercise in Sunyani.
This initiative, according to the organizers, aims to enhance the sanitation status of Sunyani East and promote a healthy environment for residents, ultimately sustaining the city’s reputation as Ghana’s cleanest city.
The exercise saw the participation of about 70 workers and 10 senior Zoomlion staff, the Sunyani East Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Vincent Antwi Agyei, MP Hon. Seid Mubarak and community members who converged to clean up major streets, markets, and Sunyani main lorry station within the Sunyani Central Business District.
The massive clean-up exercise took place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 8:am to around 10:40am, with heavy cleaning vehicles and sweeping materials provided by Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the assembly.
The exercise coincided with the monthly Clean Ghana campaign, an initiative by President John Dramani Mahama.
According to the Zoomlion Regional Coordinator, Mr. Benedict Awuah, the clean-up exercise champions clean environments as a shared responsibility, emphasizing that unhealthy environments pose health risks to inhabitants and threats to society.
Mr. Benedict Awuah emphasized the company’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to promote environmental sustainability and cleanliness in all the local assemblies across the Bono Region.
Additionally, he told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm that their efforts were aimed at supporting the MP’s Sunyani Unity Festival, which had commenced with some promising activities.
He touted Zoomlion’s capabilities in managing waste, citing that the company has employed a team of experts in waste management and dedicated staff, and is well-resourced, which makes them ideal for providing essential environmental services.
Mr. Awuah advised residents to take ownership of a cleaner environment by prioritizing sanitation issues and embracing them, emphasizing that securing a clean environment is a shared responsibility.
The Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Hon. Seid Mubarak expressed optimism that the clean-up initiative will positively impact the health and well-being of residents in the municipality.
According to him, the initiative is part of the activities lined up for his “Sunyani Unity Festival,” which aims to promote peace, investment, and human capital development in Sunyani.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Sunyani East, Vincent Antwi Agyei, also commended the success of the clean-up exercise and urged residents to participate in large numbers in future exercises.
He also vowed to collaborate with security agencies to ensure compliance during cleaning operations.
